What is an eBike?
An eBike is the shortened name for an electric bike. They are just like regular bikes, except they have the addition of a motor, battery and controller. Ebikes allow you to get further faster, without the fatigue.
Why do people ride eBikes?

Lifestyle Changes for People Who Ride eBikes
There is a positive relationship between having an eBike and an increase in bike riding
- 6% of respondents state they do not ride a bike as an adult until purchasing an eBike
- 89% of respondents now ride daily or weekly
Of the people owning a standard bike as an adult…
- 55% indicated that they rode their standard bike daily or weekly before purchasing an eBike
- After purchasing the eBike, this number rose to 93%
Respondents also indicated:

- They are less sweaty or tired than with a standard bicycle
- They are not avoiding certain trips, destinations or hills
- They enjoy the experience of bike riding
eBiking for Health
- Those who ride bikes for health will find their eBikes allow them to maintain a healthier, more consistent heart rate vs those who over-exert on steep inclines
- eBikes keep their riders excited and longing for their next ride out
- Many riders who have not rode in a while do not realize how difficult traditional bicycle riding can be as one gets older. Inclines begin to feel steeper and rides home may seem longer than before.
eBiking Cost Savings
- The total cost per mile (including cost, purchase price, and the cost of running the vehicle) is less than 5 cents for an eBike versus 71 cents for a car
- For every 500 miles an electric bike is used in place of a car, an average of 25 gallons of fuel is saved.
- In terms of fuel economy, the eBike’s energy consumption translates into about 1,000 miles per gallon.
